REIGNING CHAMP THE PRIZE FERARRI WINS THE GOVERNOR'S STAKES FOR FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW Date Posted: 8/16/2025 10:31:34 PM ![]() The Prize Ferarri, in the morning before winning the the $17,000 Governor’s Quarter Horse Stakes on Saturday for the fourth consecutive year. © Ashley Hanson ELY, NV–AUGUST 16, 2025–The Prize Ferarri, already a 13-time stakes winner, extended his remarkable run at White Pine Racing on Saturday by securing the $17,000 Governor’s Quarter Horse Stakes for the fourth consecutive year. The seasoned 7-year-old gelding burst from the gate and never relinquished his advantage, covering 400 yards in 19.801 seconds with a 97 speed index. His neck victory was worth $9,350, boosting his lifetime earnings to $201,143. Jose Figueroa was aboard the son of The Louisiana Cartel, who was bred in Oklahoma by Weetona Stanley out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize. RTM Stables LLC campaigns the star along with partners Kevin Dunn and Bryon Goody, while trainer Mark Hanson keeps the gelding in sharp form. Hanson commented, “He’s the type of horse that keeps you excited to stay in the game!” The Prize Ferarri, entered the race off a victory in the Roe River QH Stakes on July and proved his dominance once again at White Pine, where he holds the track record from 2022 in the same race. Chasing hard in second was Cowboy Bar Cartel, who closed strongly to finish three-quarters of a length behind in 19.855 seconds with a 95 speed index. Jayden Ironeyes guided the son of Five Bar Cartel. The 5-year-old is owned and trained by Juvencio Canales and was a $11,000 purchase at the 2022 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale. Another seasoned runner, Bv Mary Rose, finished a neck back in third, stopping the clock in 19.961 seconds with a 93 speed index. Jose Rodriguez rode the daughter of Hez Our Secret, who is out of the Corona Cartel mare Striking Presence. Bred in Oklahoma by Bella Vista Farms LLC, the 6-year-old mare is trained by Bryan Flores, who also owns him in partnership with Tranquilino Flores. She is a 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate, selling for $7,000. Rounding out the field in fourth was Fire of the Mountain, who crossed the wire in 20.006 seconds with a 92 speed index. The son of First Moonflash showed little rally under Fernando Gamez for owners Larry and Joyce Mower. Joe Hadley trains the 5-year-old gelding, who settled for fourth on the day.
